This Just In!!!!!!!

The National Osteoporosis Foundation together with other members of the Fracture Prevention Coalition have been working on legislation to ensure patient access to osteoporosis care, including the gold standard DXA test.

We are pleased to report that S. 3160 has been introduced in the US Senate by Sen. Collins [R-ME] and Sen. Cardin [D-MD], with original cosponsors Sen. Wicker [R-MS], Sen. King [I-ME], and Sen. Stabenow [D-MI]. This is where you come in. We need your help urging members of the US House and Senate to support DXA legislation.
Since 2007, Medicare payment policy has hindered osteoporosis prevention efforts leading to a sharp decline in the testing and treatment of osteoporosis. Millions fewer women have been tested and for the first time in over 20 years, hip fracture rates have increased. In the meantime, the prevalence of osteoporosis continues to grow. We are clearly heading in the wrong direction and need to reverse these disturbing trends.
